Here's how…
Workflow:
- When patient is ready for discharge, the nurse unit secretary touches the touch screen* to send a message to the transport dispatcher.
- The transport department dispatches a transporter, and indicates they have done so in the system automatically time stamping the dispatch.
- When the transporter picks up the patient, they so indicate utilizing the touch screen* located at the nurse station. This timestamps when the room is empty, so that
housekeeping is notified that the room can be cleaned, and Bed Control can discharge the patient from the ADT system.
- Housekeepers utilize the touch screens* on the unit to indicate when they start cleaning a room and when they finish. When finished, this automatically generates a work
task to Bed Control or Environmental Services indicating that the bed status can be changed to cleaned in the ADT system.
*or other method, such as phone or PDA.

Display:
The Big board in Bed Control displays each nurse unit showing occupancy summary data, along with drill down to nurse unit to see bed/patient specific data:
- Bed status: dirty, STAT dirty, clean, reserved, pending, etc.
- For occupied beds: isolation status, sex, age, MRSA/VRE, etc.
- Data about beds: private vs. semi-private, negative pressure, near nurse unit, etc.
- Other views include: Environmental services view for managing bed cleaning; Transport view for managing
transporter dispatch; and Nurse unit view.
